Can't Clone => Ok To Fresh Install On New HD?

i get a read error when i tried to clone my HD to a bigger one. so, can i simply replace my current HD with the new 1 and fresh install W7? it's the same computer, just a brand new drive.

    thanks.

Yes you can, assuming you have your original Product Key.

But I would wonder why the clone failed. Was it a true clone or an image restore and what application did you use? I'm wondering if the new drive has problems.

i used seagate's cloning program to clone. the error message was, at the 92% done spot, that it could not read disc 1, which is the older drive. so i think the original has a problem, not the new 1?

    yes, i have the key.

Does your old hard drive pass the manufacturer's diagnostic tests? I'd try to find out if I had any intention of continuing to use it.

Have you considered imaging rather than cloning?

Of course, a clean install is probably the preferred choice if you don't mind doing it.
