Unplug your Vista drive and do a startup repair up to 3 times with your Windows 7 installer (dvd disc) your system files are on your Vista harddrive. That is why it won`t let you delete it. Reconnect your drive and you should then be able to delete it.

    Just for the record:
How is it possible that your system is booting to disk 2 (to Vista disk) ?
    1. Are the disks remapped in BIOS ?
    2. Are you selecting at boot time which disk to be booted ?

Windows 7 and Vista boot always to first disk active partition....

Have a look at this tutorial, which explains how to remove the active flag from the Vista partition and run a startup repair to get Windows 7 to boot up.

You can choose which HD to boot in BIOS setup - Vista on Disk1 is apparently set to boot first.

Unplug Vista HD, make sure Win7 HD is set first HD to boot in BIOS setup after DVD drive, run three Startup Repairs as suggested which will write the System boot files to the Active partition.
