Help me by creating partition on new Dell laptop

My friend got a Dell laptop without any OS. I have a Win 7 disk but during the installation, the PC cannot find hard disks at all. I need help in creating a local disk C. The size is 640gigs and I want to use all of them. Can someone help me ASAP?

At what point in the installation process do things go bad and what is the exact error message?

Can you get as far as the language choice screen?

What's the story on your Win 7 disk? Burned? Bought retail? Bought online?

It has this stupid FreeDOS disk which I can't understand how to install it. I can create a partition but later on I get stuck. All I need is to create a disk so I can install Windows 7.

Sorry, I've never heard of a Windows disk with FreeDOS. I wonder where it came from?

Does it give you access to DOS commands such as format?

If you have a valid product key, you can download and burn an ISO and then install from it.

I'd assume the commands in FreeDOS are the same as those in any other version of DOS.

But that is beside the point. It doesn't look like that's a valid Windows disc if DOS is involved.

I think that would be frowned on in this forum, considering the unknown pedigree of your disk. No can do.

I am on the eve of suicide. Seriously, why windows cannot create disk partition on installation menu?

Are you sure you have the proper disk? Can you check to see if the cables are connected on the hard drive? Usually if that happens the disk is either bad or cables aren't connected.
