    Windows 7 Clean Install Problems

I recently built my own computer, got everything setup and plugged it in and it displayed the motherboard page right away and no problems. When I go to start to install windows 7 (home premium 64 bit) the computer randomly freezes and i'm not able to install windows 7, I have some people helping me out and trying to figure out what is going on but I wanted to see if anyone else knew or had any ideas of how to tackle this problem, thanks!!

    intel core i5 3.3 GHz
    asus p8z68-m pro motherboard
    asus gtx 560 card
    8 gb ram

have you checked your voltage settings on your cpu and ram ?
sometimes just bumping up your cpu voltage (just a bit) will help you get your system more stable.

i looked at that but i wasn't sure if i wanted to mess with it to risk screwing something up, how much is just a bit?

try setting it to auto and see if that works.
you can always change it back if it don't .

okay i will try that tomorrow, have to go to bed because i have to be at work in a very few amount of hours. also i keep getting to different spots of the installation setup, one time i'll make it to the "install now" screen and other times i'll freeze up before the "choose your language" screen, not sure if that helps at all to diagnose the problem

If that doesn't help try removing all but 2gb of RAM to try install.

Reset the CMOS: Clear CMOS - 3 Ways to Clear the CMOS - Reset BIOS

While in BIOS setup set SATA controller to AHCI to try install.

Clearing the CMOS is a very good idea. Before you try installing any O/S on a new build, you should run Memtest overnight on your proposed configuration (i.e. with ALL the memory) to raise the probability that you have a good stable system to install to. On all new systems I always 1) set everything to defaults (very bad idea to try installing to an overclocked system), 2) boot to Memtest and run it for at least 8 hours, and verify 0 errors. Any error during Memtest is a show-stopper. You MUST correct that before proceeding. 3) Install the O/S.

thank you very much guys for all of the help! just got home from work and i'm going to start trying some of these ideas, i'm going to try clearing the CMOS first and see if that helps, i have 4 gb sticks of ram so the least amount that i can have is 4 gb and i've tried that with no success already, thanks again, i'll make sure to post if anything works.

Cleared the CMOS, and the SATA controller was already set to AHCI, still messing around with it, thanks for the ideas

Unplug everything except DVD drive and target HD.

Next try writing install to flash stick using Universal USB Installer
with wIN7 in dropdown menu. If this fails unplug DVD drive.

Test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+

Wipe the HD: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Test your HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, followed by Disk Check after formatting a full disk partition using Step 2.2 in Optimize tutorial above.
