OS Upgrade - Product Key Question

I have never done an upgrade of my OSes and have this question:

If you buy an upgrade from e.g. Home Premium to Ultimate from MS and download the .iso, does that come with a new product key. Is the product key part of the .iso or do they send that by seperate mail.

OR, does the upgrade retain the product key of the Home Premium in the case of an in-place upgrade (not new install).

Hello Wolfgang,

They should give you a new product key with the upgrade version.

When I upgraded from Home Premium to Pro, I downloaded the ISO and the key was sent via Email.

I never have used the ISO, I just put the key in using anytime upgrade and about 10 or 15 Min. and a reboot I was upgraded.
