Windows 7: Windows 7 wrongly tells me my copy is not genuine

Test sleep now by setting it to 1 minute while you watch.

I would also turn on hibernate which is perfected in Windows 7 and allows you to walk away without worrying about turning off the computer whether you come back in an hour or a week - your data will be saved after timeout and computer shut down. It also starts up much faster from hibernate.

I have turned the Sleep Mode back on, and set it to activate after 1 hour of inactivity, and it is working fine.

I still have hibernate turned off at the moment, but I noticed that the hiberfil.sys file is still rather large (it is about 2.2GB in size). I hope it's supposed be that way.

I want to thank everyone for their help and suggestions, I have my older computer up and running Windows 7, and have been able to keep all the programs I got from HP when it originally ran Windows Vista.

P.S. - The system is running faster than ever, and now that my older computer is working again I have two great computers, instead of just one.

Glad to hear it.

Remember to save a Windows 7 backup image so you can use that instead of reinstall next time: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup
