    changing recovery drive method

i unfortunately bought a pc from hp. i would like to free up as much space as i can, so i want to know if there is a way i can just burnt the information on the recovery drive onto a disk or thumb drive and turn the 11.5 gigs they are using for it into unallocated space. if so, is it really that simple? could i click and drag the files from within it, onto a thumb drive?

On all HP computers with pre-installed Windows, you can find a recovery tool in Start Menu. Not on my HP's now, can't remember exactly what's the name of the tool, but check Start Menu for HP > recovery or something similar.

Launch the tool, it allows you to burn the recovery DVD set, 2 to 5 DVD's depending on your model.
