    Question about an upgrade

If I was to purchase an anytime upgrade to ultimate. I currently have professional installed. I found a good deal on amazon for a ""Microsoft Windows 7 Anytime Upgrade (Home Premium to Ultimate) for 94.00$" can I up grade from Professional to Ultimate with this Key, or do I have to have Home Premium installed? Or do you just need to have any windows 7 below ultimate installed? May be a stupid question, I just don't want to waste the money

You'll need to buy the Professional to Ultimate Anytime Upgrade: Windows 7 Upgrade Paths

In fact I would decide only based on features since performance is identical: Compare Windows - Microsoft Windows

I'll need Home Premium to Ultimate anytime upgrade even though I have Professional? Is there no Professional to Ultimate anytime upgrade? And Amazon, is that a safe place, I mean, it's 94$ compared to 129$ from microsoft.

Don't want a fake that will expire after a while

Sorry I mistyped. You'll need Pro to Ultimate as shown in upgrade paths chart.

If you're buying from a retailer via Amazon I think you can trust it. I would not buy software from a private party you do not know.

Have you googled to look for buy.com and newegg prices which often give a break?

I seen them, but never heard of them, so I was weary. They are legit? I am just really looking for a good deal, I love microsoft, they are just VERY expensive haha!

Buy.com and newegg are not only trustworthy but give some of the best service in the online sales business. You can also trust the big box office stores like Office Depot and Staples.

It's an unusual upgrade so may not offer any price breaks, which is why I would go by features since they're almost identical and hardly worth $130 more.

honestly, I really only want to do this because I feel as if I bought an anytime upgrade that will probably expire. I believe I bought it from a untrustworthy source (my fault) so, i'd like to upgrade instead of doing a reinstall of pro. I'm sure at some point I will get the non genuine notification. Also heard about not updating a certain update that checks for activation piracy and whatnot, but would rather do it right.

And I cannot seem to find an anytime upgrade from pro to ultimate. Not sure if it ever exists!

You should have said this from the beginning.

What is it you have exactly that you suspect is non-genuine and what makes you think that?

You can validate your Product Key by calling MS Customer Service. If you have the papers to show you inadvertantly bought non-Geniune, they even have programs to replace it with Genuine windows at no cost.

Please explain in full what has transpired so we can help you best.

Please also look at the charts provided to see what is the highest version of Win7 you need because most users do not need the higher versions except for business purposes and the price breaks for Premium can be very attractive.

It exists, Windows Anytime Upgrade: Windows 7 Ultimate for Windows 7 | Windows 7

It is just not a commonly used upgrade path so retailers are not likely to carry it.

Why do you think your Pro upgrade is a potential fake?

What about the advice you were given in your other thread?

Can you reinstall an anytime upgrade with no disk?

It would be less confusing if you kept all the similar help questions in one thread.

If you are not sure about something, ask as many questions as you want.
