Windows 7: Windows 7 ultimate x64 - Error 0x80070570 Asus P5b, q6600

keeps coming up when I install my windows 7 disk. I've used two different disks and the same error occurs, though at different levels of completion. I've searched the forums and come to the conclusion that either my memory isn't good for this board, or it is the hard drive that i'm installing to.

When I start it hangs at 0% expanded and about two mins later it gets to about 72% expanded and then the error occurs. The first disk i used only got to 39%. I've ran a memory diagnostic and currently have no access to a USB boot disk.

This is almost always an installer error. Where did you get Windows 7? Check HASH or download another ISO, burn to DVD or write to flash stick using Windows 7 USB-DVD Download Tool.

Boot installer using one-time BIOS Boot Menu key given on first boot screen. Unplug all other HD's and peripherals.

If this fails, wipe the HD first with Diskpart Clean Command accessing DISKPART At PC Startup.

Next reset BIOS to defaults in BIOS setup, set SATA controller to AHCI to try install.

Next test your HD using maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan, then test your RAM - Test with Memtest86+ for 5-6 passes. Remove all but 2gb RAM to try install, then swap RAM.

Thanks for the input after 12 hours and 3 windows disks it eventually got past the initial expanding installation screen, which for some reason made it not post. After a CMOS reset I continued and it worked. The difference I guess was the 3rd disk was burned at 4x instead of 2x (really old burner).
