Tried installing over Primary partition

While doing an install of Windows 7 Ult. x64 on my Dell Studio XPS 9100. During the installation, it asked me what partition and I remember selecting "OS: ???? Primary". Now it's stuck in limbo because it keeps giving an error message: "the computer restarted unexpectedly or the installation was stopped unexpectedly. Windows installation cannot proceed." (I had to hard restart it because it froze) and restarting.

I'm not sure if it matters but the first time it restarted after following the steps, it showed three options all of which, "Windows 7"?

Did you miss the step to Delete the partitions you don't need during reinstall? This would have avoided possibly installing multiple OS's or having wasted space on partitions that aren't needed.

Please type Disk Management in Start Search box.

Maximize Window, open Snipping Tool from Start Menu, draw a rectangular snip around the drive map and listings, post it back so we can look over the configuration. Screen Shots

I didn't miss the step about deleating partitions, I just don't know what I'm doing when it comes to this sort of thing and thought it a good idea to leave them for now. I'm in the process of restoring my back up files and will post some screen shots soon!

You should post a screenshot of disk management as soon as you can so we can take a look and give you some advice before you start restoring all your files and installing programs.

That looks like a Dell system. They always have this 39MB partition in Fat32. I suspect some tools in that partition.

PS: LOL, in his first post he even says that it is a Dell.
