Windows Media Player will not play any DVDs for me. Help?
I'm having a problem trying to play a DVD using my PC under W7.
Originally, I had Windows Media Player installed and that was working fine.
Then, I read that MPC-Home Cinema was better than Windows Media Player and so I tried to D/L and install that. But during the installation procedure I got the message that the latest version of DirectX runtime (June 2010) has not been installed and so MPC-Home Cinema would not run. It advised me to D/L and intall the latest version of DirectX runtime. I tried to do that. But I couldn't make it work.
Then, I tried to use Windows Media Player again but got the a message asking me if it should ask me every time whether I wanted to ask if it should ask me whether to use WMP or MPC (I could be mistaken about that. It may have asked some other question). When I answered that it need not ask me every time, I now can't get either app to run any DVDs.
I'd really like to revert back to using WMP in the way it was originally installed. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
Also, I don't know why I can't seem to be able to D/L and install the latest version of DirectX runtime (June 2010). But if anyone can help me to do that, I would be very appreciative.
Gosh! What a mess!
