Installation DVD? Most new computers don't come with such things anymore. Or so it seems for my laptop at least.

I will be updating a fresh install of the RC since MS said it could be updated. Assuming RC Ultimate allows upgrading to Home. The rc key doesn't work if you try to install the RC as home premium.
To prevent problems I cloned a fresh activated RC install too and can restore the OS, still activated, any time.
The curious feature of this is that Windows 2000 doesn't use activation.
There has been speculation that it must pass WGA. I didn't believe that idea, though, because it effectively means that only a PC that is on the Net could be upgraded. (Activation does not require an Internet connection, although the Net connection makes activation more convenient.)
