    Windows 7 installation DVD

Hello all, not sure if this is the right place, but i will give it a shot, i just got may machine back up an running after been away from it for 2 years, i built the machine while i was in the States, and at that time i had purchased a genuine student copy of Windows 7 64 bit,.( they were on sale for $40 student discount )

I since have moved to the UK, and recently had my machine shipped over, i had to purchase a new CPU and Power supply, once i installed the new parts, the system booted up, and i proceed to do all the Windows and Software updates, (fully updated )

    I then made a " create a system repair disk "

i am under the impression that the system repair disk will attempt to repair windows if i run into a issue, it will not Reinstall the OS,

The Origin disk that i brought is no longer available to me but i still have the Product ID and the OS key.

So if i had to do a clean install for what ever reason, where would a get a 64bit OS to do the reinstall of the OS, or could i call MS and have them ship me a new Install DVD ( at a cost of course ) LOL

    Thanks in advance,

Everything you need is here to reinstall, and the steps are the same for reinstalling retail Win7: Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

If Win7 started on changed hardware it's likely you'll need to reactivate to associate the new hardware signature with your Product Key. You can wait until prompted to do this, or just reinsert the key at Control Panel>System link to "Change Key." There is no problem with reactivation as retail Win7 can migrate to whatever hardware you want and as often as you like, but needs to have the hardware signature updated in MS servers.

Once activation is sorted, if Win7 performance is good then use the modern method to save a Backup Image to use in place of reinstall which will retail activation on the same hardware: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup
