Will windows 7 work on my new PC?

I am building a new desktop PC. My components are:

    EP45-UD3P Gigabyte motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 processor
    8GB on board memory
Two Western Digital hard drives (1 tb each drive)
    LG 22X DVD rewriter (internal)

At present I do not have a full version of Vista Ultimate to use as my operating system. I am considering buying Vista Ultimate for $200.00. I was thinking of waiting until Windows 7 comes out. The full version of Windows 7 Home Premium is priced at $200.00 also. My question is this: Will my system (described above) work with Windows 7? Please help.

Windows 7 will love this rig. This rig will love Windows 7. If I were you, I would bless their marriage.

hi fibertech, welcome to the forums,

your system should have no trouble at all running windows 7. to make use of your ram, you will need the 64 bit version.

I do not see why it wouldnt. It leaves a slightly small footprint than vista did. It is worth the wait.
My main pc has a Q6600,
    4GB of ram
    2 500GB hds

and it runs Win7 Ultimate without a problem

Fibertech, if it doesn't and you want to dump your system, just send it to me...
That will be a nice rig, I would not hesitate to go ahead (mind the x64 need). I run Win7 on much less and it hums along smoothly...

Hi guys first time here so go easy on me ok...
    My question is......

I understand from the replies to the original question that a 3Ghz core2 Quad 3 Ghz processer (Q9650) Will work fine using windows 7 professional 64 bit OS ?

So this processor will work with both 32 bit AND 64 bit OS ???
