problems by the installation of windows 7 Hi everybody,
I have a problem by the installation of windows 7. I put the DVD into the laptop (Fujitsu Siemens Amilo A 1667) and it starting to install windows 7. By the step, where I have to choose the partition for windows 7, I can not choose it, because the laptop is still "thinking" and I have to switch off my computer.
Before I started to install windows 7, I tested the memory (2 GB) but everything was all right.
It is important to know, If I want to setup windows xp or other linux systems (like Suse or Debian) I don't have a problem like that.
Please help me asap. | My System Specs |

What do you mean by "the laptop is still thinking"? It may be a problem with the disk, do you recognize any visible scratches and instabilities within the surface of the disk? | My System Specs | | OS Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1 / WCP x64 / Ubuntu 11 x64 |

The disk must be okay, because one of my friend tried to install windows 7 and it was okay. This is a new DVD, so on that surface are no scratches.
The laptop is still thinking, I mean, that the mouse cursor is busy but the memory doesn't work. | My System Specs

The laptop is still thinking, I mean, that the mouse cursor is busy but the memory doesn't work. Does it take forever? 3 hours should be a reasonable time to stop. It might be useful to run a Disk Check. | My System Specs | | OS Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1 / WCP x64 / Ubuntu 11 x64 |

Disk Check didn't show me any problems with my winchester.
By this step, I waited more than 1 hour, but nothings happened.
The setup progress is still by that point: "where do you want to install windows 7?" | My System Specs

The setup progress is still by that point: "where do you want to install windows 7?" There is more likely problems with the system itself than on the disk. Have you tried installing Linux or Windows XP/Vista? If installing other OSes does work, this might be a problem with the disk itself or compatibility. Do you currently have an operating system installed on your hard drive? | My System Specs | | OS Win7 Ultimate x64 SP1 / WCP x64 / Ubuntu 11 x64 |

The first operation system was windows xp on my laptop and as I tried to install it again, I didn't have that any problems. For two weeks, I already installed linux (opensuse) and with that installation, I did't have any problems too. At the moment is no operation system on my hard drive.
What do you mean, that it could be a problem with the compatibility? | My System Specs
