    EFI/GPT install question

I want to shrink the single partition on my 3TB HDD to make space for a Windows x64 system partition(using GNU Parted). My mainboard supports EFI so I should be good as far as that goes.
My question: Is Windows Setup actually able to make use of the space I'll create without wiping the entire disk?

Use Disk Mgmt: Partition or Volume - Shrink

Then boot the Win7 installer, choose Custom install, click on the space you shrunk to auto-create and format the partition and begin install. Clean Install Windows 7

Sometimes with EFI mobos you need special installation steps: UEFI (Unified Extensible Firmware Interface) - Install Windows 7 with - Windows 7 Forums. Are you using an MBR formatted disk? What is currently installed? Is this intended to be a Dual Boot?

How did I manage to miss that tutorial? Installing to a non-blank disk is very not recommended it seems so I'll have to find a different way.
