How do I make my new hard drive bootable?

I have been having many problems with my old hardcover and after finding out it was the source of all my problems I decided to go out and buy myself a new hard drive today,
    It is a 3.5" internal sata 2
    7200 rpm
    32 mb cache
    From intenso

My motherboard has two sata slots, I managed to install windows on my new hard drive through the files saved onto my other hard rive. Windows is successfully installed on my hard rive but I have to keep the old one in to boot from, is there a way to create a partition on my new Hardrive to boot from so I can unplug my old hard drive as it takes up the slot where my DVD drive should go

    Thanks, Ashleigh

The cleanest way would be to disconnect your old hard drive and reinstall Windows on your new one.

You want a booted install with only target HD plugged into Sata1 port, so that Win7 will see itself as C when booted - which it won't if installed from another OS.

Follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

After install plug back in the other HD to access it's data from within Explorer, making sure to keep the new HD set first to boot in BIOS setup. If you need to boot the old HD, at bootup tap the Acer F12 one time BIOS Boot Menu key then select the other HD by make/model.
