There can be a HUGE boost in speed when you reinstall Windows 7 with a clean disc vs a factory restore or just a new system in general. Factory oem pcs comne with lots of bloatware that really makes a new pc SLOW. You may think that the slowness is normal until you reinstall. Then your system will be really fast again. Windows only comes with the operating system components, such as snipping tool, Windwos explorer and that stuff. It does NOT come with Norton or McAfee trials, Office Staerter, blio and all of that other junk. If you reinstall, it will just come with Windows 7, nothing else. You install everything else you need.

Depending on the notebook manufacturer, there may be software that is required for the laptop to operate correctly. You will have to visit Toshiba and download all of the drivers and software for your model. If you don't do that, after you install Windows you won't have chipset drivers, wifi drivers, etc.

You only need the network driver to get online to get the installer's drivers updated. Any drivers missing after all Updates are completed can then be imported from the Toshiba Support Downloads webpage for your model.

I would not change out any drivers given by the installer and Windows Update unless performance problems point to this/these driver(s). Win7 is the authority on its own drivers - this is not XP.

Follow these steps to get a perfect Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

Windows updates are pretty good at providing drivers, but it may take some time before they arrive.

If you are considering a clean install I think you should also consider downloading and saving your Toshiba drivers first.

At the very least you should download the network adapter drivers and the chipset drivers. Anything else can be downloaded after you've carried out after the clean install if you prefer.

So not sure if I need that. I set up if I want to OEM which I might. But sense computer doing ok atm Im not rushing, I do know though this time no avast dam thing is a system hog I wouldn't be suprised if it scanned and freezing everything is what created dam problem.... could be wrong though windows is tricky

still a lot better then any other windows though

20-30 minutes to run the installer.

Then you can take as long as you want with the other steps, especially taking time to install your Updates and then programs to check for any performance changes.
