Win 7 64bit - Boot files missing, what to do?
I have a small SSD (60GB) on which I had Windows 7 installed. On another drive (1TB internal HD) I had another Win7 installation. It was mainly the 1TB installation I chose at boot time.
I wiped the SSD and installed Ubuntu onto it. I set up grub, boot loader, to boot the HD Windows 7 installation which I still have. I can't get Windows to boot.
Auto-repair, from the Windows 7 disc, doesn't work (run 3 times at least). Copying the boot files, from the repair CD, onto the HD doesn't do the trick - it partly boots up into what it thinks is a windows repair partition. I also tried creating another 100 mb partition on the HD and putting the boot files there, including winload.exe. No luck. Perhaps this partition has to be at the start of the HD?
What should I be doing?
