Windows 7 Ultimate vs Factory Settings

I am getting ready to reset my Gateway LT280u Netbook to Factory setting. Does this means when the settings are reset I have to get a new Product Key for Windows Ultimate or can I use the old one?

If your Gateway came with Windows 7 Ultimate, then it will keep your Windows 7 Ultimate. If it didn't, then you will need to rerun Windwos Anytime Upgrade to upgrade to Windows 7 Ultimate. You can use the same product key that you used before to activate Ultimate.

Welcome Solarpowere92 to the windows 7 forums.

When you say your going to reset your machine to the factory settings, do you mean restore your original operating system from the recovery options?

I see where you are asking the same question about office 2010.
If you recover your operating system via the recovery options for your machine, and it had office 2010 installed but not activated, then you should remember to save the activation codes for the office 2010.

Re the Operating System, it probably is a OEM copy of windows and can be activated quite easily as you have a legal copy with the activation codes that you already have. You haven't changed anything but just re-installed the same system,

I am a serious caveman when it comes to this type of work (like Idk what OEM even is) All I know is Yes: I am using the Recovery Options from the start up screen by pressing F8. I care for nothing other than
Microsoft Office 2010 and then Windows Ultimate.
    -------
Pretty much what happens to those two When then Restoration process is finished?

Chances are if you are using the "Recovery Option" on your machine, you won't need any keys. This will likely reset the machine back to the way it was from the factory on day 1.

OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer and an OEM version of Windows is tied to the computer it is installed on.

A factory restore using the computer manufacturer's recovery discs will require no activation by the user as it (activation) takes place automatically.

If you decide to clean install Windows using the product key on your COA (Certificate of Authenticity) certificate then you will be required to use the Microsoft automated activation service.

If you carry out a clean install with a retail version of Windows, that also will require activation each time you install it, but it can be transferred to another computer providing it is uninstalled from the old one first.

If you upgrade your operating system using Windows Anytime Upgrade, that will also require activation on completion of the upgrade.

    Update Alert**
Then screen finished apply then a Notification came up saying,

"Windows Setup could not Configure to run on this Computer's hardware"

I pressed Ok anyway, but does that mean anything to you guys that I should know about?

If your computer is working fine, then just use it. If any problems arise, then we will go into further diagnosis.
