Use choice 2.

Back up your data and boot from the installation disc.

When you come to the partitioning screen, choose "drive options, advanced" and delete all partitions.

You do NOT have to delete partitions and make new partitions BEFORE you install. Do that DURING the install by using "drive options, advanced".

There is a pretty good chance the Windows disk will have all the drivers you need, but you might go to your motherboard manufacturer's web site (Asus) and download at least the LAN driver so you will be able to establish an Internet connection after you install Windows 7.

One more thing ... while making new partitions, make it sure that you are not making more that four primary partitions in a single disk. If you do, the disk will be converted to a dynamic one, and you will not be able to use it properly.

If you want to format logical partitions ... you may use Partition Wizard Bootable CD , the instructions are here : Create Partition help of partition software - Partition Wizard. .

Follow these illustrated steps to Clean Install Windows 7.

Be sure to back up your data first.

If you save the XP partition it will auto-configure a Dual Boot menu to choose between OS's. Later we can help you remove XP. Dual Boot Installation with Windows 7 and XP
