Should I reinstall Windows 7 Service Pack 1?

    My OS - Windows 7 Ultimate (64Bit)

I was installing service pack 1 in the morning, it was taking too much time to install so I cancelled it with task manager then windows installed few of the updates and system properties is showing "Windows Service Pack 1" even though i didn't install it completely.

Should i reinstall it? I am not having any problem, just a little worried lol. Do i have to uninstall before reinstalling it completely this time?

    Thanks:)

    Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

If you want to uninstall it have a look here: How to uninstall Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1)

If you want to install it again have a look here: http://windows.microsoft.com/installwindows7sp1

You can have a look under View Installed Updates under Uninstall a Program and check for the SP1 update KB976932.

If you don't see it, SP1 is not installed or it would have been installed if you'd installed Windows 7 SP1.

Be aware, it can take up to two hours to install, update and configure, and it's never a good idea to stop it halfway through.

Thanks for the welcome and fast reply.

Is reinstalling service pack 1 completely necessary? I am not having any problem.

What makes you think it didn't finish installing besides that you canceled the installation? It may have actually finished as evidenced by it labeling Properties page with SP1 which is the last thing it does.

SP1 installer can have a lot of stall time while it reviews what has already been installed in previous Updates.

You don't need to do anything if there are not performance problems. Windows Update will always scan to see what you still need as long as it is correctly set to Automatic.

In that case, take note of Greg's advice as it sounds as though it did install.
