    Windows 7 stoped installation...

    Hey,
I tried Win 7 RC, and it works fine beside Windows Vista Ultimate for more than 1 month. Until I noticed all applications on Win 7 it takes so much time to open. For example, IE or Fire Fox takes more than 5 minutes to open.

So I formatted my 2 HD (I dedicate one HD for each OS) and installed Vista on the same old HD I installed it before and the same with Win7.
BUT, Win7 failed to finish installation.

What happen is, I start the installation normally and it does finish the first stage from the installation and restart the machine and start to finish up the rest of the installation.

BUT after may be 5-8 minutes the screen of the installation process itself (which it shows what is happening, where it shows the number 1 and 2 at the bottom)

The machine still on but quite, the monitor still on, and I can hear the DVD drive stopped. I left for almost 2 hours, and nothing change…

I don’t know what the reason is for that. I had installed it before as RC and it worked fine.

And in the mean time, I installed Vista on the other HD and it working fine now.

    Any clue!!!

Can you install Vista on the hard drive you're trying to install 7 on? Or do you have the same problem?

Is this Windows 7 RC or what? and where did you get it?

    What are your system specs?

I got the DVD from Microsoft TechNet web site. It's clean version. It's Windows 7 RTM.
And Yes, i changed the HD for each one, and still have the same problem.

Paff, got that "black screen" too. But the main error was selfmade.

i had plugged in two display-cables into my graphiccard. One cable goes to my normal Monitor and the other cable goes to the "off switched" TV in my living room. The damned Windows 7 setup routine changed - while installing - to the other port on my graphiccard which was connected to my TV (20 meters away from me). After 4 hours i managed it to find the problem. I unplugged the TV connection and the setup routine keeps on the first graphiccard port. that was all!

    strange
