    frznh, welcome to the forums
have you checked the md5 checksum of your download? Also, have you burned the DVD at slow speed?
Please make sure to load the specs as Tews asked, otherwise we will be shooting in the dark
    Agree'd!!

To add.. I had problems with my first attempt with Win7 Enterprise RTM.
It would just fail half way thru the install.
The fix was simply to burn the ISO on a different box and at a slower speed.

I guess the installation will bomb on even the slightest problem with the install media.
MS is simply dumbing down so many things about this OS.
At least with the 'old blue blue screen' installs, you could RETRY when a file fails to be read. Heck, you could skip it if it wasnt a critical file and just replace it later.

frznh, there are no stupid questions and you are not supposed to know. My apologies for not explaining better
MD5 checksum is a sum generated that works like a signature. If not all the zeros and ones are in the right place in the file the checksum wil be different meaning there is something wrong with it. More here: md5sum - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
In the place you downloaded it there can be a checksum listed for the ISO image. You can Google it as well. Then download MD5 checksum program or similar, it will calculate it for the file you have and you can compare with the original checksum. If they don't match you have a corrupted download.

    I used ActiveISO.
I've not yet tried an RTM install yet, but Microsoft's Compatibility Advisor told me (while running Vista Business 32-bit), that ActiveISO was an issue. I've since uninstalled it in preparation of my move to Win 7.

Hi Mark, welcome to the forums
I use ImgBurn, I cannot comment about ActiveISO. ImgBurn never let me down
Do you have a link to that warning (was it out of MS's website?)

Thanks for the welcome, wallyinnc. Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor runs on you PC and reports what it finds. In my case, it's only "concern" was ActiveISO, and since I wasn't using it, I simply uninstalled it.

I see what you mean. That tool will give you warnings about a few programs, and you will get more when you are running Win7, simply because many applications have not release "Win 7 compatible" versions. I was running XP 32 bits and now I am on Win7 x64 and I have had actually very few compatibility problems running the same things I ran in XP 32. it will really be a case to case thing, I guess.
More experienced users might provide more detailed advise on that.
