Windows Explorer Starts-up Automatically (w/o my requesting it)

Hello,
Upon every boot up Windows Explorer ( not Internet Explorer) automatically loads and displays. This has been going on for some time. I thought this would be solved once I did a "Install Repair" , yet this is not the case.

I have looked in the startup folder to see if it is being requested on startup and it is not. I have not been able to see where this request resides to turn it off.

Any ideas are welcomed.

Thanks!

Where did you get Win7? How is it activated?

Work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 to check for clues.

Have you done a Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 - the steps are the same for retail?

Hello
I will read through the info you suggested...
For me, I did a Repair Install...
Before doing this, I tried a Startup repair, and also the usual sfc / scannow.

There are other steps there to learn to use the logs and System Resources to gather clues and solve problems, but it may require a clean reinstall. This is not something to fear but an excellent learning experience about how to get it perfect, and from which you can produce a backup image so you never have to reinstall again.

once the system is running correctly - what type of DVD/CD disk should be made so one does NOT have to do a Repair Intstall ( 5 hrs of installation) in the future ?

Any recommendations ?

Follow these steps once you have Win7 set up and running best: Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

If it ever becomes irreparable then after running through Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 you may want to do a System Image Recovery.
