Partition gone, No physical disk - need to reformat

Ok so this is not for my computer, it's for a friends who got his computer loaded down with some serious viruses. He knows very little about computers so when popups told him he had viruses 'scan now' he clicked them.

Anyway, he had sent this computer prior to Geek Squad for something, and after coming BACK from them his partition had be reformatted.

Anyway, with no Physical disk, and no partition, I'm a ship out of water on where to go next. He has the license key for Windows 7 Home premium, but my personal copy of windows 7 is the higher ultimate in 64 bit so I can't use that. Nobody around me seems to have a W7HP disk either.

It's ridiculous to have to buy a new disk when you still own the product key, is there any way to go about a reformat or to recover this lost partition? The partition is still there, it's just empty now.

Thanks for any help!

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

Check out this tutorial, which explains how to download a Windows 7 ISO and use it to install Windows using the product key on the COA sticker on the outside of his computer.

Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

The ISO you download needs to be the same as the Windows version on your friend's computer i.e. if he has Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, he needs to download the ISO for that version.
