Dual Booting with Windows 7 Installed First?

Hi everyone. I have Windows 7 64-bit and I want to install Windows XP 32-bit for extra cross-compatibility. I know 32 bit apps can work in 64 bit but I also need my printers and other devices working.

I need help with a guide to dual-boot operating systems but I can't find a guide that includes Windows 7 as the first operating system. Could anybody help me by pointing me in the right direction?

    Thanks,

Do you know if I still have to "repair windows 7" if I install Vista 32-bit instead?

    installation of xp

Hi, I want to dual boot Windows 7 and XP, both are Pro edition, I have Windows 7 Pro installed first, and I would like to put XP on a secondary hard drive. I put in the Windows XP install disk and boot from it and follow directions, I tell it which hdd to install to, than tell it to format drive, after formating it copies files to the hdd and than it says restarting Windows and than says it needs to reboot, I was wondering if I need to change boot order so the secondary drive is after cd rom in boot order or set secondary drive as primary, how do I do that as my primary drive is a SATA and secondary drive is IDE, do I change it in the bio's? I am not real sure how to proceed from here, I read the tutorial but I didn't see how to install XP With Windows 7 installed first on second hdd, or did I just miss it. Any help would be very much appreciated, and Thank you.

You should only be able to boot into XP right now. Use EasyBCD to edit your boot settings. Older operating systems should always be installed 1st when doing a dual boot.

    Hi, AddRam
Thank you for responding so fast. I have another question, how do I change to the other hdd with BCD, I have never used BCD before, or direct me to a tutorial for BCD. In the mean time I am going to try and find a tutorial or information on how to use BCD. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi, AddRam
I just thought of something else, after I install XP, I than use BCD to fix the MBR after the install is finished, to bring up menu to boot into Windows 7 or XP. Am I correct or am I missing something, I am not sure. Thanks again.
