    It could take time to tell, as when I installed the one from it stopped working correctly. This time I've installed it via windows update.

    Which is why it specifically says in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 to complete all Updates before importing any drivers and then only those missing in Device Manager.

    If it really bothers you then you could run Factory Recovery to see if it resolves. If not then you'll know for sure it's a hardware problem since whatever is needed to enable it would be in the factory image.

    From june 12 to Aug 19 and 198 post and all greg get is thanks with no answer to what fixed it. Folks that's not right.

    Another program called 'HP Quick Launch Buttons' is needed to make it work properly. Here's the forum post: Volume Touch Button Light - HP Support Forum

    I wouldn't have thought of that myself. And @Layback Bear I was getting to that ^
