Windows 7: Unable to reinstall Windows 7 - "Setup is starting..." hang.

Unable to reinstall Windows 7 - "Setup is starting..." hang.

There are quite a few problems with my system right now.
I'm unable to run windows normally thanks to the "BOOTMGR is missing" error.
When I try to reinstall Windows 7, it hangs on the "Setup is starting..." screen.
When I open the cmd.exe using SHIFT+F10, I am able to access all of my drives, except for the D: drive. When I attempt to execute any command on that drive, it does absolutely nothing except give me a blinking cursor on the next line. I've let it sit there for about an hour, and still nothing, along with the "Setup is starting..." screen.

Even if I could get past the BOOTMGR screen, I would be stopped by a blue screen that says: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.

Does anyone have any idea about what I should do?

Is there maybe a program I can save onto a disc that would work on startup that could wipe out my harddrive? I really think the D: drive is the problem.

Sounds like it might be a problem with the hard drive. I hope you have all of your data on it backed up.

Boot into your BIOS and make sure it recognizes the boot drive. If it does, see if the BIOS also includes a way to do a quick test of the drive.

I don't see anything about a boot drive. I don't have anything worth saving on my harddrive.

But does the BIOS recognize the drive you're trying to boot from? If so, see if the BIOS can run tests on it.

No, it just has the boot order and some security functions from what I can see. Nothing other than that. Is there any way to get past the fact that I can't access my D: drive to wipe my harddrive and do a clean install?

Can you post a picture of your BIOS screen, particularly the screen that shows your drives?

And while you're at it, how about posting some specs on your machine. That way I (and other helpers) may be able to determine what options your BIOS provides.
