windows 7 cannot boot - cannot run chkdsk or diskpart

    Hi,

i attempted a dual boot of debian and windows 7 yesterday, on a HP laptop with a single HD. this is where ive come a cropper as i think ive installed grub into the windows partition - and thus now it cannot boot windows.

i have a recovery disk, but cannot run chkdsk, scannow and diskpart does not let me select any volume other than the recovery disk itself.

    example output;

    chkdsk /f
the type of the file system is NTFS.
    cannot lock current drive.
windows cannot run .... because it is write protected.

    sfc /scannow
there is a system repair ... restart and run again (restarting doesnt change this)

    diskpart
    list disk
    Disk 0 Invalid 232GB Dyn (*)

list volume (lists the CD rom only)

    list partition
    Part 1 Dynamic Data 992KB 31KB
    Part 2 Dynamic Data 199MB 1024KB
    Part 3 Dynamic Data 179GB 200MB
    Part 4 Primary 53GB 179GB

    bootrec /fixmbr
    successful

    bootrec /fixboot
the volume does not contain a recognized file system

    bootsect /nt60 all /force
    \Device\HardDiskVolume1

could not open the volume root: the parameter is incorrect.

those commands are all i can find to fix the problem and none of them do. i DO NOT HAVE a installation disc as it's a HP with windows pre installed on it.

    HELP please .....

Please download and burn partition wizard bootable CD and boot from it.
Free download Magic Partition Manager Software, partition magic alternative, free partition magic, partition magic Windows 7 and server partition software - Partition Wizard Online the one at the bottom.

Make camshot of partition layout. And post it. I want to know what's on the partitions

    Hi, thanks for replying.

    heres one:

    bootsect /nt60 all /force /mbr

    \Device\HardDiskVolume1

could not open the volume root: the parameter is incorrect.

    \??\PhysicalDrive0
    successfully updated disk bootcode.

bootcode was updated on at least one volume.

linux can be deleted? So you don't need it anymore?
    if so:

    diskpart
    sel dis 0
    sel part 4
    delete part
