New SSD won't open anything, "No Such Interface Supported"

My samsung 830 120GB SSD arrived today. I plugged it into my thinkpad as an external drive using the provided adaptor, and used Norton Ghost to copy the entire drive onto the SSD. I then installed my SSD into the laptop and booted.

Firstly, I get the "Preparing your desktop" screen which hangs for about 3 mins. Then I have nothing but a blue screen with the build number in the corner and a message saying Windows is not genuine. I started explorer.exe from task manager and got a start menu, but when I try to open control panel, my computer etc I get the error message "No such interface supported".

Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks
