    Hanging on boot, won't repair, can access as slave drive - fixable??


    I hope the title helped.

    My Win 7 drive refused to boot, refused to repair and refused to restore.

    I slotted in a spare little Win 7 drive, booted okay, can see the 'dodgy' drive, can see the data and need to know if I can fix it in this way to become my bootable drive as it is full of programs I would rather not have to spend hours reinstalling.

    I have Win 7 home premium for my sins.

    Is there anything I can do to make life a bit easier?

    Welcome to SevenForums.

    I assume the win 7 premium because of you sins is an attempt at humor.

    Be sure to physically disconnect the "working" drive before attempting to fix the drive with the problem.

    After doing that, then start down Greg's recommendation list and let us know if any step fails.

    Can you and some explanation to "refused to boot, refused to repair and refused to restore"?

    That info may shorten the trouble-shooting.

    Refused to boot : boots so far and then reboots and goes into a constant boot/reboot loop.

    Run in safe mode line by line. The last load is ClassPnp.sys then it reboots.

    Boot from disc into repair and get the 'unable to repair'.

    Try to restore and get 'unable to restore', despite selecting one of several different restore points.

    Cannot get into safe mode to run anything.

    Off to try some of Greg's recommendations now.

boot problems with slave drive

I'm trying to save data from my old hard drive but when I go to boot up, the drives conflict and windows 7 doesnt load eventhough I've disabled the slave drive in bios boot menu, any help?
