Windows 7 Problem...
Okay, so I finally got my new comp parts in early last week and built my system. By last Thursday I had it all working great. Windows 7 install was quick and easy. Everything seemed to be working good.
Then, I updated my Windows 7 with the optional updates (I had already done the critical/needed updates earlier) on Saturday and after some time and reboots (the system did these automatically) I got a message at the splash screen saying "Applying update x of 1,179,000" (or some arbitrary high number). Since I planned on going to the movies with my brother I thought well now is a good time to leave my computer here and I figured it would be done by the time I got back.
Well, when I got back from the movies, I turned on the monitor and was starring at a blank screen. I tried to see if the computer was asleep and tried to get it out of sleep mode, but nothing happened so I rebooted. Now I cannot even get it to boot in normal mode, safe mode stops at some driver called *classpnp.sys*. Trying to boot from the .iso will let me choose to install or repair, but neither works. The install option just hangs at the background image (same one from when I installed the first time, but with no buttons, etc.), but sometimes will get to the "Setup is running..." screen. The repair option does roughly the same thing. It just stops with my mouse pointer on the screen with the background, but no options - OR no mouse pointer at all, just a background image.
1) I do not have AHCI on (nor is there any ACHI option in BIOS)
2) I have upgraded to the latest BIOS firmware
3) I'm really frustrated that I cannot even attempt a repair or boot into safe mode
Here are my specs:
i920/P6T Deluxe v2
12GB Corsair RAM
750GB WD HD
XFX 4890
Please any suggestions or help appreciated!
