Failed to install Windows 7 - I/O Error

Good afternoon all,
I have been having problems to install Windows on this laptop for a while now, when I bought this laptop about 5 years ago, it had Windows Vista installed. I used it for a while and though "Let's treat myself to a nice upgrade to Windows 7" - Okay so I went to buy a disk, the install went well. So I have been using Windows 7 ever since. But when it started to fail, gave me some I/O Error with some black screen, fair enough try again, still didn't work, okay used Startup repair via my Windows 7 installation disk. Took about 18 hours, said that it couldn't find any faults, okay fair enough again, I go try another Windows 7 disk, doesn't work so my last resort was to download Ubuntu, okay amazingly that WORKED. It installed and worked fine. I hate Ubuntu, I can't navigate around properly as my mind is locked to be using MAC OS or Windows, so knowing that my laptop can install Ubuntu, I though it would finally install Windows too. I was wrong, half way through the installation when it says "INSTALLING WINDOWS..." it stops, black screen and the same god darn I/O Error, says something to do with my harddrive blah blah blah blah, so I install Ubuntu again to test if it's working, Ubuntu works, so obviously my laptop would work.

So what I find strange is that if Ubuntu installs, why the heck won't Windows install? I really hope I can use Windows. Windows rocks!

Thanks in advance and sorry for the huge paragraph on my problem.

Test your HD with maker's HD Diagnostic extended CD scan followed by a full Disk Check on all partitions or on one large partition you create for that purpose, using Step 2.2 here: SSD - HDD Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

Then wipe the HD with Diskpart Clean Command and try again to Clean Reinstall.
