    Windows 7 Recovery Disk

I have a ASUS desktop with no Windows 7 disk, will a Samsung Windows 7 disk work to restore the ASUS? I ask this because I was going to be charged $90 for the disk when I bought the ASUS.

I'm afraid not. The drivers and such on the Samsung disk won't be for the features on the ASUS desktop. Also, the mfrs often have checks in their disk to check to see if it's being installed on their hardware.

If the mfr didn't supply a disk with the system, they usually have some way of creating one (intended to be created when you first get the machine) or they have a restore partition on the hard drive from which you can restore your system.

On the ASUS website, it talks about their recovery feature called "Recover Pro". Not sure if your model includes that or not. It would help if you included that info in your system specs.

As a last resort, you could always get a generic Win 7 disk and install that but then you would need to download all the required drivers and additional software from the ASUS website to make everything work.
