    Installing XP after Windows 7

I am using an evaluation copy of Windows 7.

Windows 7 is good by the way.

Problem is that when I reboot with my XP cd in to format and then install XP, it runs through inititial setup (where it prompts for F6 if you want RAID) until it says starting windows and then I get a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.

My CDs are fine as I verified it twice i.e. I have 3 CDs of XP.

I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NS30E and I need to sort this problem.

Please put me in the right direction for this.

Sorry to say - and you won't like me saying this - you need to start again.
    Install XP first.
Then for dual boot install Windows 7.

Why install XP first (besides the boot menu issue)? I have installed XP after 7 many times.

How does installing XP after 7 create a BSOD? I've never seen it.

TEWS I should imagine that is the problem.
I installed Windows 7 and must have muffed up the partitions.
If this is the problem then what is, if there is, the solution.
    Cheers for replies

from what i gather (from google) your machine came stock with Vista Home Premium, correct? now call me sally (dont) but the BSOD might be due to a raid or sata driver that XP didnt/doesnt have. usually looking up the error code in the dread screen (the blue one) will point you to a solution. if it's possible, post the error code.

Are you dual booting or did you install win 7 over XP?
