| Windows 7: Installing XP after Windows 7 |

Installing XP after Windows 7 I am using an evaluation copy of Windows 7.
Windows 7 is good by the way.
Problem is that when I reboot with my XP cd in to format and then install XP, it runs through inititial setup (where it prompts for F6 if you want RAID) until it says starting windows and then I get a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH.
My CDs are fine as I verified it twice i.e. I have 3 CDs of XP.
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-NS30E and I need to sort this problem.
Please put me in the right direction for this. | My System Specs |

What version of Windows came on your laptop? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Too many to list. OS XP, Seven, 2008R2 CPU AMD, Intel, VIA Motherboard Various Memory Corsair, Kingston, etc. Graphics Card ATI, NVIDIA Monitor(s) Displays Samsung Keyboard qwerty Hard Drives Maxtor, Western Digital Internet Speed 22 Mb/s @ home, 1 Gb/s @ server Other Info All of my systems still run fastest on XP 32-bit for the most part. Win7 is fun to play with, but I still prefer XP for raw speed, security, and functionality. |

Sorry to say - and you won't like me saying this - you need to start again.
Install XP first.
Then for dual boot install Windows 7. | My System Specs | | OS Dual boot XP Pro and Seven/7127 |

Why install XP first (besides the boot menu issue)? I have installed XP after 7 many times.
How does installing XP after 7 create a BSOD? I've never seen it. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Too many to list. TEWS I should imagine that is the problem.
I installed Windows 7 and must have muffed up the partitions.
If this is the problem then what is, if there is, the solution.
Cheers for replies | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Sony VAIO VGN-NS30E OS Windows 7 |

from what i gather (from google) your machine came stock with Vista Home Premium, correct? now call me sally (dont) but the BSOD might be due to a raid or sata driver that XP didnt/doesnt have. usually looking up the error code in the dread screen (the blue one) will point you to a solution. if it's possible, post the error code. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number eMachines W3502 OS Windows 7 Ultimate x32 CPU Intel Celeron D 3.2 Ghz 533 fsb (LGA 775) Motherboard Intel D101GGC Memory 1 GB (2x512MB) PC-3200 DDR @ 200Mhz Graphics Card Nvidia GeForce 9400GT- 1GB Sound Card Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreame Gamer Monitor(s) Displays 19" LCD HDtv Screen Resolution 1360x768 @ 60Htz Keyboard Stock. Please put me in the right direction for this. Are you dual booting or did you install win 7 over XP?
