    Help with windows 7 recovery

HI i just wanna ask how do you make the recovery disk install to an SDD beacause it keeps on installing to my HDD, i have a 128gb SSD and 750gb HDD on msi gt70, the recovery disk does not show what disk to install the operating system and i want my operating system to install on an SDD to make it fast loading. Oh, my OS was first installed in my SDD, but when i do the recovery it then automatically installed in HDD, i did a recovery again and still on HDD. need help as fast as possible please. Thanks a lot

Unplug the HDD, plug in the SSD, make sure it registers correctly in BIOS setup and set it first to boot after DVD drive.

Boot and run the Recovery Disk.

If this fails post back the exact problem and error message verbatim.

You also have the option of getting a superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 . Read the steps carefully.

Are you talking about restoring a system image? When you get to the restore image window, does it show which drives are available? There is also an option during a System re-image to exclude drives from the process. Are both drives showing there as being available?

Since the image was on an SSD, it is still small enough to fit on the new one?

You might try disconnecting the HDD, if you can.

Maybe you could explain your procedure for the restoring process. We never know if you are referring to one of two Windows processes, or a process from a System Manufacturer? For Instance, are you using Windows Backup and Restore, and what options are you using?

Yes you can now plug back in the HD to access it's data, even boot the OS on it if you need to using the one-time BIOS Boot menu key.

You can link your User folders from Win7 on the SSD by browsing to them on the HD, rightclicking to add each one to it's related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums.

This saves space on the SSD for your programs which benefit most from the extra speed.

When ready to remove the OS from the HD, move the data off or to another partition to delete the Win7 partition in Disk Mgmt, then repartition it as desired.
