When I try and do a Factory Restore thing.
I press F8 and all, Repair computer and then the Dell backup thing. [I have the reinstall disk.]
It says, "Your computer will be completely restore just like when you first bought it.
Tried to but 1 second later the error:
    0x40011002000100a comes.

The Chsdk says some stuff in undreadable btw. Sorry for all these problems, it's a lot I know.
Factory restore doesn't work... can't do anything on that.
did chkdsk run? you told me it was at 3% did you? Id it really unreadable... or you just don't understand? first 3 steps take a minute or 10 to complete. Step 4 and 5 .... many hours. step 4 and 5 only put 1 or 2 lines on screen. And you can compute the progress!! blocks doen each minute and total blocks give you a clue how long it takes to complete. step 4 and 5 may not give you errors.

I'd love to give screenshots to you, but I can't. Paint won't load up and it freezes.
    It says for example.
[Amount of numbers here] or [More numbers] are unreadable. I'll give exact numbers when it loads again.
I have to do it over because I froze and it shut off. Sorry. If push comes to shove, I could send the laptop in, I have no warranty so I am unsure of the cost, and may be better of getting a new laptop.

    WD Support / Downloads / Mobile & AV-25 / WD Blue
Download "Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows"
Do exactly what is explained in "Instructions". Start with QUICK TEST . Then (if no errors) EXTENDED TEST. You can always do VIEW TEST RESULT.

    NEVER DO WRITE ZEROS !!!

Do I understand right? chkdsk/f/r c: gives many errors? In step 1,2,3 or 4 or 5?

By the way, on a different forum I was ask to do a Dell Diagnostics for my hardrive.
I did, and it went to 79% and error, so I did extended and nothing was there.
I will try what you linked. Do you still want me to keep Chkdsk going?
I only get in search box. ChkDsk.
    How to get f/r/c: ?

Edit here it says: 4% complete. <104021 of 259840> file resource is unreadable.
    104016 and 104017 to 22 is undreadable.

I just got a BSOD. So that was for nothing. I am sorry to give you so much trouble.
I am going to let my grandpa work with this for a while. I will get back to you if any news happens.
Probably just going to send it in for a fix.
Thank you kindly for you help. [You can lock this if you want. I could always make another topic since my original plan is not do-able.]
    -Cheers.

If it's really damaged it has to be replaced.... How to disassemble Dell Inspiron N5030, N5020 or M5030 laptops >> Inside my laptop
Not something you can do yourself! Any very important files on disk?
