Win 7 Professional install shows as Vista in System Config Boot
Hi - I have a machine that has came with Windows 7 Professional installed on it. The System module in Control Panel shows it correctly as Windows 7 Professional with SP1.
I have never added another operating system or attempted to set it to dual boot mode, yet under the Administrative tools -> System Configuration utility (boot tab) it shows as Microsoft Windows Vista.
I have had this pc for about a year and this is the first time I noticed it, but I don't know if it was like this since the start (I don't think so).

I don't know how you got visa there. Mine indicates Windows 7. Try this, hit the Windows Flag Key and the Pause Key at the same time. At the top should be your system.

Just to clarify - everything on my computer behaves as though Windows 7 professional is installed correctly, with the one exception of the System Configuration utility showing Vista as my boot OS.
My other Win 7 pc's show Windows 7 as the boot OS.
I do not know if this should be a concern - for example is this typical of any rootkit infections?

Another little goody. System Configure///tools and at the top you will see About Windows. Lower right you will see Launch. Tick on it.
To the best of my knowledge this is what Windows says it is.

Thanks everyone - while I still don't have any idea how Vista showed up in the boot record, I used EasyBCD to change in back to Windows 7 and order is restored to my pc!
