It worked! If I could ask a few more questions. This Windows 7 did not come with a trial AV. What anti-virus do you guys reccommend? I am going out to buy one. I also had WildTanget games preinstalled but the reinstallation did not include it, is it on the drivers and utilities disc. Thanks.

As long as you carefully studied and follow the steps closely in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 then you will have a perfect reinstall, and using only those methods will keep it that way.

Read them over again now to make sure you handle drivers correctly since these are handled differently than in XP.

Let us know how it goes.

Use Microsoft Security Essentials. FREE. Don't buy anything.

As a complement to Microsoft Security Essentials, consider Malwarebytes, a free download that works well in conjunction with MSE.

But I thought from post 16 that your friends whined when you suggested ditching McAfee? Some people regard McAfee as a virus--hard to get rid of.

    I know nothing about WildTanget.

    Get your Windows Updates.

Take a look at Windows Disk Management. What do you see there? 2 partitions? Post a pic if possible.

Don't buy an Anti-Virus. This is one of the best and it is free. Microsoft Security Essentials - Free Antivirus for Windows We can't help with your game. That was probably some bloatware that you don't need. There are plenty of games you can find later. Let's get you setup first. Try this virus protection and you will be in good shape.

Wouldnt getting Microsoft Essentials require me to download from the Internet, but problem is I have no AV installed so I would be connecting to go get it with no protection. How do I look at Windows disk management?

It's in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 along with everything else you need to get a perfect install.

Why would you ask for our help and then just completely ignore steps given to do what you want and end up with a perfect install, and how to keep it that way?

You can download MSE from the web now. It will run a quick scan after updating itself.

Get to Disk Management by typing those 2 words into the start button search box.

Yeah, MSE will require a download, but it's a quickie and you can scan for viruses immediately after installation. Be sure it updates to the current set of virus definitions. If it is running OK, you should see a green symbol with a white checkmark in it in your system tray--bottom right of your screen near the clock.

You can set MSE to do a quick or full scan according to a schedule of your choice--say once a week. It also protects in real time.

There aren't going to be any virus' on the Microsoft site. You will be OK for this one time. After the one time, you will be protected. == Go to the Start Menu and type in "Disk Management" (without the quotes) and it will show up. Go there and expand it so none of the words are covered and use the snipping tool to post a picture of it.

I am following directions, I followed the steps. I'm sorry if I'm annoying you. It's just a bit overwhelming and confusing for someone with basic computer skills. I am going to plug my internet back on to get updates and Microsoft Essentials now.
