Doing a clean install, do I need drivers & utilities disc?

I want to perform a clean install of my Dell desktop Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit after a trojan attack made my system unstable. Problem is I am not very computer smart. I have two discs, the operating system reinstallation dvd, and drivers and utilities. Do I need the driver/utilities disc? I read online that all the stuff you need is on the reinstallation disc. If so what disc do I put in first? And how would I go about doing a clean install, is it easy ? Thanks for the help in advance.

It was the Zeroaccess trojan, I removed some of it, but not all. Still got redirects and two BSOD. I want to do a clean install because I use the computer for school.

I used Mcafee, superantispyware, and Hitmanpro to get rid of some of the trojans/malware.

Do you have your data backed up?
Any school stuff your going to need on there?
You put the Reinstal DVD in and reboot the pc see if it gives you an option to boot from dvd...if not you are going to have to enter the BIOS to set the BOOT Priority.

Your going to have to format the drive...reinstalling Windows with out will not remove the malware

Use your installation disk. You should not need anything else. Use the tutorial to make things easy on yourself. Clean Install Windows 7 When I installed my Win 7, I did not have any trouble as everything was on the Win 7 Install disk. Let us know how it works out. == If you have any files that you need to keep, back them up as a clean install erases everything on the Hard Drive. == As to your question, "Is it Easy"? It really is, just follow the tutorial step by step and it will be easy. One thing, when you come to a step in the install, it will ask you to input your Product Key, don't do it. Wait until everything is good until you do that. You will have 30 days before you need to put in your Product Key.

    I knew there'd be a guide here...just haven't found it yet.

Follow that guide you'll be golden.

Thank you guys so much for the quick responses! I am doing the clean install tomorrow. I don't have anything to back up as I don't store music or photos on my PC, and my documents are saved on a usb. Is it better that I reformat or delete the partitions? If I delete will Windows automatically create new ones?

If you have more than one partition on your HD, Windows only installs to C:. If you have D: or any other partitions on the HD, it will not bother those. One thing you should do is if you have more than one Hard Drive, unplug from the Motherboard all but the one that Windows 7 will be installed to. This will eliminate any problems of accidently installing to the wrong Drive. If you only have one Hard Drive, don't worry about it.

The drivers CD will usually be outdated. All you need is too keep the network card's driver handy in case Windows doesn't automatically support it, and then you can download drivers for anything Windows doesn't configure on it's own.

    That's what I do.
