    Cannot repair install windows 7

When trying to upgrade I get this error: Your current version of Windows is more recent than the version you are trying to upgrade to.

I'm trying to do a repair on my windows because initially I had a problem with windows updates(not being able to check for updates) and then I noticed SFC wasn't working ~probably connected, not sure.

The windows 7 .iso I have doesn't have SP1. And I don't think my PC does either(since I deleted all installed updates while trying to repair the windows updater).

    Hello Mafi,

Just to confirm, please use the tutorial below to see if you have Windows 7 SP1 or not installed. :)

I downloaded the iso from Microsoft DreamSpark. Since I am a student I get windows and other products for free.

Seems I was wrong, I have SP1 installed.
    Version 6.1 (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)

(If needed I can download again windows 7 with SP1 this time)

    yes. Download with SP1.

We could have avoided this detour, if you had filled in your system specs.

Please help us to help you by carrying out this procedure. I recommend using Speccy.

    Update your SevenForums System Specs
User CP (located on the top menu bar) |
Your Profile | Edit System Spec
    (left-hand column)

To gather info, use Speccy (my favorite) or SIW or System Info

In the System Manufacturer Block, enter:
Ř Manufacturer and Model OR Custom build.
Ř ADD the word laptop, desktop, netbook or tablet.
    For example:
    Toshiba Satellite L305D notebook.

Provide full windows version info, for example:
    MS Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 64-bit

Use the “Other Info” block for Optical Reader,
Mouse, touchpad, wifi adapter, speakers, monitor, etc

Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES.

With Speccy, you can select with your mouse/touchpad info from the display
and paste that info into your specs.

SIW is a marvelous program, but the free version does not offer
    this capability.

Uh, problem. DreamSpark won't let me download Windows 7 with SP1.
(The item cannot be added to your cart because you have already ordered this item (or a related item) and cannot order it again. You can view your previous order by clicking Your Account above. Download orders can be re-downloaded from there.)

So I'll download it from greg's links I guess?
    Did the System Specs.
