I can't seem to find a page that gives any indication of what type of bios is has. But it will normally say on the top of the Bios menu page that it is a UEFI bios.

There will also be settings that mention UEFI, and if you use the Boot Device menu, you should see a DVD entry that is plain and one with a UEFI designation.

If you are trying to use a flash drive, it may need to be set up specifically to be able to boot UEFI.

Why do you want to install in EFI mode? It's easier to leave the EFI Boot disk out of the BIOS boot order, enable Legacy BIOS if the choice is present, then install to a normal MBR disk.

Shame, shame..... if you HAD any experience, you would not keep saying this.....

The experience so far trying to help with EFI installations and repairs is that it's much easier for both the OP and those helping if Win7 is installed in Legacy Mode to an MBR disk.

No one has claimed better performance or any advantage with an EFI installation, only reported problems. I have been watching this closely, have encouraged you to help more with EFI and thought we were in sync so far. If I need course correction I am always eager to learn, but I will not be shamed for trying in good faith to help others here.

I can say several things in response, but sadly they are not related to the thread, as was your first post.

All computers certified for Windows 8 will be required to have a UEFI compatible bios. It is coming as will more questions.

You fussed an someone that was using a RAID, because it was an older technology.

You fussed at someone using XP, because it was an older technology.

You are fussing at someone wanting to use UEFI, which is a newer technology.

You are the primary responder in this forum, and do a very good job.

Maybe it is time to convert one of your seven computers to UEFI and find out how it really works.

My apologizes to the OP for this distraction from the question.

Well that is certainly a wake up call.

I actually thought I was taking my lead from you, Clark, in several threads where I thought we were trying to help users avoid EFI install. I may have been completely mistaken and should stay out of these threads until,, as you suggest, I come up to speed on EFI. The workload here is so crushing I've not had time to study it more.

I am happy to defer to you on EFI BIOS since you have the depth of knowledge needed now. I will be watching and learning.
