Wondering if my system recovery backup was compromise as well?
I was hacked and lost control of my administrators and other things. Is it safe to run a system recovery from boot up? Or has it been compromised as well?

Sorry, I start the machine and hit f9. Then select windows setup (EMS Enabled) . Get the preload wizard and click next. That's what I meant, yeah yeah.LOL I guess its the factory install.
That sounds like a restore to factory specs from a built-in recovery partition that was on the PC when you bought it.
My guess would be that it's OK to use, but that's just a guess.
I assume you have not previously burned a set of recovery discs that you can then use as a substitute for that recovery partition?
I'd wait for further comment, but if I was highly concerned, I'd just do a clean install from a burned legitimate ISO that is downloadable from mydigitallife.info---assuming you have a valid Product Key, and you should.
I agree with Ignatz that Factory Recovery should be safe from infection if it will run.
If you made your Recovery Disks when setting up your PC you can even run those now after wiping the HD to get it cleanest using Diskpart Clean Command from the installer or Repair CD Command Line. You should have one of these for repairs anyway.
However there is a possibility Recovery can fail so you may want to run Recovery from boot or Win7, use the disks as a backup method in case it fails.
If Recovery fails you can get a superior Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 after wiping the HD first.
I did make the DVD's first thing out of the box. I will run them as well. Thank you so much gregrocker. I live with someone that thinks they know what they're doing. Now I know that there is no one or anything on this computer.lol. Again thank you my friend!
You're most welcome. Let us know how it goes.
