Windows 7 64 bit, Windows 8 32 bit.....Not too impressed so far

I'll try not to take it so seriously. I just don't have the luxury of school or an actual teacher. I literally opened my first laptop 6 months ago and through the last 6 months working as the only technician at a repair company I have been forced to learn EVERYTHING on the fly because the other technician was fired shortly after I was hired(the technician posted an ad looking for someone who knew nothing(me) but the owner didn't realize that so I'm stuck learning on the fly which sucks sometimes but it sure is the best way to learn all the practical and none of the frills). Most of this is new to me. Sorry for the overreaction.

I agree -- Hulu, sometimes the people here, myself included, get a little out of hand. I hope you hang around. It is a great forum.

The workaround you came up with took brains. The fact you then wanted to report it here means you value helping others which makes you one of us.

This is how many of us came up learning the tricks of Win7. There was so much experimentation with workarounds and what works for installation and repairs that early on we eclipsed the other sites to become the top tech site on the web.

Stick around and learn with us, keep reporting back.

Thanks Greg. I think the fact that I caught it before it got the chance to seek out the hardware and make registry changes is how it worked. I would be interested to try it with different models but I don't have a bunch of laptops laying around.

Huludrock -- Everybody thinks to have invented something at one time or the other. Here is what I invented this week. I am quite impressed with it. What do you think?

Here's an upgrade of something I "invented" when I was an auto mechanic. When more and more cars changed to front wheel drive, a lot of them you had to use a wheel puller to get the rotor off(the disk of "disk brakes") to then mount it on the lathe to turn it true. I came up with the idea of a lathe that could be mounted on the car. When set up the car engine would be started, put in gear, and the wheel turning would drive the lathe mechanism. Of course I didn't submit the idea anywhere. But I told a few people about it over the years. Then one day visiting another mechanic in another garage they were demonstrating the prototype. It worked just as I described.

I knew the idea of running the car in gear up on the lift would not go over well with customers as gas prices increased. As you can see in the video, now they set up a drive shaft to turn the wheel on the car rather than running the car motor.

To water cool, or not to water cool...that's the question.
So, I was perusing TigerDirect the other day, looking for a really good BBK, found what I wanted and ordered it. However, I know a guy, who knows another guy, that can get me the uber edition of the i7 core for less than TD can. As I was discussing overclocking with him, I brought up water...
