You can also try this :

Download the ultimate boot cd.

Ultimate Boot CD - Overview

Download the .iso file, burn to disc, boot from that disc, look under hard disk tools and do a drive wipe, make sure it's one that does a 0 erase wipe that will erradicate any data on the drive, then attempt to reinstall. Worth a shot.

I would if i was you rather just jump straight to it if you know the discs are not at fault id just wipe the hard drive fully Gl let us know how you get on

by jove i think i've got it lol seems to be working now windows has installed and doing the updates, i formated just about everything includeing the boot sector lol... cheers for the help

Be sure to follow the Best Practices in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
to get a perfect reinstall.
