It's been many years since I installed XP.
Have you backed up your data, booted from the XP disk, and attempted to continue with the installation---which would presumably offer you the chance to format the drive or delete existing partitions?
If yes, what happened?
If no, why not? | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Ignatz Special; 4 speed manual gearbox; factory air conditioning; one of one OS Windows 7 SP1, Home Premium, 64-bit CPU Intel Sandy Bridge i5-2500, not overclocked Motherboard Gigabyte H67A-UD3H-B3, full ATX Memory 4 GB Crucial DDR3-1333 Graphics Card none; graphics are integrated on CPU Sound Card onboard: Realtek ALC892; external: USB Behringer UF0-202 Monitor(s) Displays NEC 90GX2-BK 19" LCD Screen Resolution 800 x 640 Keyboard Leopold Tenkeyless with Cherry Blue switches, USB Mouse Logitech or Microsoft optical wired; either USB or PS 2 PSU Seasonic SS-560KM, modular Case Antec Solo II Cooling CPU: Scythe Big Shuriken; Case: Scythe Slipstream 800 & 500 Hard Drives System: Intel 320 Series SSD, 80 GB;

What's the problem with Windows 7? Maybe we can help you resolve any issues.
XP is so old it will hardly install to newer hardware. Is this a PC which came with Windows 7? | My System Specs | | |

Make sure you delete the partition that now has windows 7 on it. You will know it by it`s size. Right it down b4 you start the new install. You should be done in 45 minutes.

I would start from scratch. First using a partitioning utility boot disk like Partition Wizard or Acronis Disk Director, I would delete the the System Reserved Partition if it exists, and the Windows 7 Partition and create a single partition instead.
After that just pop in the XP Installation CD in the CD/DVD Tray and install XP on this newly created partition by following the instructions on the monitor screen as they come along. | My System Specs | | System Manufacturer/Model Number Custom Built OS Windows 7 Pro with SP1 32bit Motherboard Intel D845GVS1 X86-based PC Memory 2 gigs of RAM Graphics Card Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller Sound Card Realtek AC'97 Audio Monitor(s) Displays Samsung SyncMaster 931BF Black 19" LCD Monitor Screen Resolution 1280X960 Keyboard COMPAQ Standard PS/2 Keyboard Mouse iBall Laser Precise Speedster Hard Drives 1.
