Can't install/uninstall anything onto my computer [Error]

First of all yesterday I messed around with my windows services to make my pc run faster, everything seemed fine until I tried updating my java (the same error shows up when I try to install/uninstall any other program on my pc.

    Heres the error:

I think this may have been caused by a windows service that I may have disabled in services.msc?

    Help plz

There is no performance gain to be had by turning off Win7 Services which are already pared to the bone. Win7 will never hang or bog on adequate hardware providing you have a perfect install following the Best Practices given in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

I would System Restore to a point before your ruined your installation, if necessary from the Win7 installer or System Repair Disk .

If this fails you can google the Black Viper Windows 7 Services to compare with the defaults. His Service edits are no longer necessary since Win7 essentially became the Black Viper with Win7.

Hmm, so do you think there might be another cause, other than the windows services??

Hey I looked through this thread, Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.
and nothing there is relevant to the problems I'm experiencing
    any other ideas?

How would working through the most basic troubleshooting steps for Win7 not be relevant to your problem? Those steps are what work most commonly to resolve issues . The logs hold vital clues when you isolate repeat errors and find how others have resolved them. The System resources are designed to provide solutions. A Clean boot eliminates programs from running to narrow it down. Everything else should be tried, too.

The steps work up to possible Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall if required. All of it is not only necessary but vital to familiarize you with an OS which you ruined because you're apparently unaware that Services do not need tweaking in such a lean OS - something we discovered here during beta.

First disabling Windows Services won't make your computer faster.
Second, did you attempt any suggestions at all, i.e. system Restore?

Woopsy daisy my bad I forget to mention that I see reinstalling windows as a last resort as this is a family PC, sorry if I sounded very ignorant guys I should of been more details, and bad news system restore has been turned off from when I first got it, I bought this PC from a shop in the high street, not from any giant retailers, and they already had it tweaked for me, which pulled me into buying it

On a side note thanks for all your contribution Greg & Britton, we need more folks around like you in the forums

The shop may have ruined your install before you turned services off. I think you should give a repair install a try first, that will get rid of everybody's tweaks, which w7 doesn't really need.

There's a link near the bottom of Greg's link for trouble shooting.
