Mirrored drive: HD failure error..Replaced with SSD?

My existing dual boot winxp/win7 mirrored configuration appears to have issues.

I ordered a SSD hd today from newegg.

Question: new install, or just re-image the SSD?

IF i do new install, do i have to have a authorization from Microsoft? I purchased this Windows 7 Professional 2 years ago...

thanks

You can reinstall retail Win7 as often and wherever you want, as long as if it's Upgrade it qualifies with an XP/Vista copy which doesn't need to be installed at the time.

Unplug any other HD's, boot the Win7 installer to Clean Reinstall following the same steps as in this tutorial to get a perfect reinstall.

If your SSD space gets tight, copy the User folders to a secondary HD then link them to the related Library - Include a Folder - Windows 7 Forums. Once the data drive appears in each library, you can delete the contents of the User folder on C.

I am running Windows 7 x64 and I have 2 mirrored drives - a pair of 1.5Ts and a pair of 2Ts. I decided to replace my boot/C: drive with a SSD but in the past when I have done things like this I have had to copy all my data to a third drive - either external USB or on another PC, then copy it back...

Mirrored or double drive--current thinking?
My wife's XP machine is ready for the pasture. The machine has a second drive that we both use for storing redundant Acronis images of her OS and mine with other images stored on the second logical drive of her primary hard drive. The setup has worked fine. At work she has several PowerSpec...

What happens to the data on a mirrored volume when one drive goes bad?
For backup purposes, I want to take two 1 TB hard drives, make them dynamic disks, then mirror them using the disk manager in Win7. After I do this, of course, it looks like one drive to the OS, not two. So I'm writing my data to them, storing music and movies and whatever on them so now there is...

Boot from Mirrored Drive set?
I installed W7 on a system with a pair of 1 TB drives "C:" and a 500 GB drive "D:". I am using mirror function built in to W7. I don't like hdwe RAID, as I may not be able to replace a failed controller. Unexpectedly, part of Windows got on the small drive instead of the mirrored pair, and I...
